Telsy
Telsy is a manufacturer of information and communication security equipment, based in Turin (Italy). The company started the development of secure voice equipment in 1971 and is still in business today (2012) selling a variety of digital solutions for voice, fax, data and storage (see below). History
Telsy started in 1971 with the desire to develop and manufacture secure communication systems for the government, the police force and the corporate sector. Their first product was the STS analogue scrambler which was sold to the Italian government and and some companies.

A few years later, in 1976, they introduced the highly compact TS-500 voice encryptor for the police corps, using time division technology. This system was also sold to ICT security OEMs like Teltron (SP-810). In the late 1970s, the company successfully made the move to fully digital systems, based on Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technologies, starting with the highly popular TDS-2000 series. This series consisted of the TDS-2003 portable encryptor (in attaché case), the TDS-2004 desktop encryptor and the TDS-2004M mobile encryptor.

In the mid-1980s even newer devices were introduced, such as the TX-900 series for secure mobile phones, the KD-100c digital link encryptor and the KV-3000, Telsy's first fully digital voice encryptor based on DSP technology. The latter exceeded all sales forecasts for many years.

During the 1990s, Telsy gradually made the move to state-of-the-art digital technologies and IP-based networks, with products like the Cryptophone 7000 (1990), the Cryptophone 7900 (1992) and the Allfax 3000 fax encryptor (1999).

Telsy has since made the move to even more powerful technologies, such as Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), IP-based communication and GSM. At present (2012), Telsy is a modern company supplying equipment for secure communication world-wide to over 50 countries, targeting the same customers as they did when they started in 1971: government, defence, police and the corporate/private sector. More information is available from the Telsy website.

Donation
In February 2012, Telsy donated three of their historical crypto devices to Crypto Museum: a TDS-2003, a TDS-2004M and a TX-900s. These devices have meanwhile been described in detail on this website. We wish to thank Telsy for their generous contribution to Crypto Museum.

In April 2012, Telsy donated another two devices: a TDS-2004 and a Cryptophone 7000 from the early 1990s. Both devices are fully operational and are described in detail on this website. Once more we should like to thank Telsy for their kind gesture and support to Crypto Museum.
