Digital line multiplexer
DELTAMUX was a European standard (EUROCOM) that allowed digital switches
from a variety of countries and manufacturers to talk to each other.
Each DELTAMUX unit allowed 16, 32 or 64 subscriber lines of 16 or 32 kbit/s
to be multiplexed into a 256, 512 or 1024 kbit/s bit-stream.
Mobile DELTAMUX unit were also developed for the communication trucks.
|
The unit shown here was manufactured by Philips
Telecommunicatie Industrie (Philips Telecom) in Huizen (Netherlands) as part of
the ZODIAC integrated communications system.
It was used by the Department of Defence (DoD) of
The Netherlands and some other countries (e.g. Greece),
and was often built into large communication vehicles, where it was used
alongside the MUCOLEX encryption
devices.

At present we have no further information about the Deltamux unit shown
above. If you have any information, please contact us.
We are also looking for the accompanying
MUCOLEX encryption device.
The above DELTAMUX unit was found in a Dutch surplus store in 2011.
Apparently the store also had a number of MUCOLEX units for sale, but these
had already been sold. If you know a MUCOLEX unit that is available, please
contact us.
