Crypto Museum is based in The Netherlands and is an initiative
of Paul Reuvers and Marc Simons who are also the creators of
the Enigma-E, a self-build Electronic version of the
Enigma machine.
It is our goal to preserve the history and technology of historical
equipment, as described in our Mission Statement.
At the moment, Crypto Museum is only a virtual place where we have
gathered information about cipher machines,
spy radio sets,
covert equipment
(direction finders,
covert radios,
cameras,
recorders, etc.)
and burst encoders.
In the future we hope to be able to offer the facilities to
allow a real-life visit.
We actively co-operate with other museums,
in order to promote and preserve the history of cryptology.
As an example, we helped organizing the exhibition Secret Messages
at Museum Jan Corver in The Netherlands between October 2008
and February 2009. That exhibition was a huge success, but has now ended.
We also took part in the large crypto exhibition held
at Bletchley Park
during the Enigma Reunion 2009,
and at the Eindhoven University of Technology
in 2010.
Overview of the events
|
At the moment, Crypto Museum is just a virtual museum which does not have a
visiting address. You can find us frequently however, at other museums and
events (see below). We can be contacted at the e-mail address below:
|
We are always interested in acquiring new equipment in order to
extend the collection. If you have anything to offer, please
do not hestitate to contact us.
|
In order to promote the history of Enigma and other cipher machines,
we regularly give talks on Enigma and related subjects.
If you are interested in one of our presentations, please
check this page.
|
Crypto Museum is a non-subsidised privately-owned virtual museum. The curators
work very hard to bring an interesting and diverse collection together,
to describe the various items in great detail, and to share this information
with the rest of the world.
